Annotation

This survey debates how 59% of participant Taiwanese parents of junior high school (JHS) students, and especially those with higher educational levels, had adopted an English name, mainly for attending English classes and meeting work claims. 89% of their children had an English name, 96% of whom obtained it before JHS registration. Thus having an English name has slowly become a glocal identity element in Taiwan.
