Annotation

This paper shows that school-based (bilingual) ideologies and practices (of two South Welsh contrasting secondary schools) are re-negotiated and reworked on the margins of education, to wit in a Youth-Club's recreational space, via preferring English use, or by mixing and blending elements of various linguistic resources, or by questioning which Welshness model is more valued, ‘the genuine, eliminated' one (as observed at the Welsh school) or the ‘novel and mixed’ one as experienced at the Youth-Club.
