Annotation

The Upper Amazon Shiwiar community's leaders used linguistic prescriptivism to underscore the contrast between Shiwiar and the other Jivaroan languages. Albeit prescriptive language planning has been proved effective in nation-building initiatives worldwide, the Shiwiar community's sociolinguistic situation does not provide the required conditions for a succesful prescriptive campaign.
