Annotation

Drawing on time-honored discordant uniformity vs. plurality ideologies as to written Irish codification, this paper values the success of unitary vs. polynomic codification models in minority language upkeep and rebirth. It is shown that many ideological, pedagogical, pragmatic and political problems impede the potency of minority language standardisation attempts, whether predicated upon unitary or polynomic concepts.
