Annotation
In the apology format “I'm sorry about it/that,” indexical terms (pronouns) allude to a breach instead of naming it. Two indexical apology subsets were distinguished: either following or without any formerly worded offense, with the first making the apology apposite, and the second getting meaning from previous talk when speaker apologies are tricky. More specifically, speakers succeed to excuse without terming the virtual or effective offense, often disclaiming their liability.
