This paper examines how Mirpuri family members defy bureaucratic migration discourses as part of the literacy agency they search when applying for a marriage migration visa from Pakistan to the UK. It aims to distinguish the visa application process' institutional literacy practices. Visa texts appear to be reutilized and recontextualised as they travel between Pakistani and UK physical and social spaces.
