Drawing on Goffman’s framing and Bakhtin’s dialogicality, two chosen hearings of the South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) exhibit how testifiers (T) and TRC officials go off-script, thus reframing parties' relations in power and community sense terms, and the hearing as social situation and past and verity grasp, and generating dialogicality by enlacing official (TRC) and marginal (T) voices.
