Annotation

In order to make sense of the systems of reference to participants in narratives in Inga (a northern Quechua language), the divisions of the discourse into paragraphs is considered. On this basis rules are proposed to account for the means of initial introduction of participants, and the different forms of reference to them at the beginning of new paragraphs, in successive sentences of the same paragraph, and at the peak and post-peak of paragraphs.
