Annotation

Although speaker immigrant origin and sex define novel youth language varieties in multilingual Stockholm (S) and Gothenburg (G), S lacks notable social differences and the allophonic contrast seems offset. Three groups of G speakers, mapped by origin and sex, follow distinct norms. Illation refers to dialectal diffusion and the wish to feature ethnic identity in a varied sociolinguistic setting.
