Upper-level A-grade students oft use possibly high risk sentence-opening imperatives for varied discipline-fixed strategic aims in research papers in linguistics, philosophy, economics, physics, and mechanical engineering, albeit in rather distinct ways. This affects L1 and L2 setting writing teachers and materials designers.
