Annotation

Corpus inquiry displays that sentence splitting (SP) has long been usual in (English-) German business translation, and maybe due to editorial directives ('explicitation strategy rather than to translation into incremental discourse structured languages), has firmly intensified over the reviewed 25 years. Raised SP may also mark a shift to progressively intersentential meaning relations using coherent reference resources rather than intrasentential ones using grammatical tools like hypotaxis or parataxis.
