Annotation

Criterial discourse traits in English L2 essays of L1 Chinese learners are explored via analysis of repeated word combinations, or lexical bundles, using a corpus-driven and expert-evaluated approach. Less skilled versus more skilled writing is closer to either oral language or to academic prose.
