Annotation

It is shown that two immigrant generations of Polish New Yorkers use both regional and ethnolinguistic variables to express ethnic identities. This defies prognoses of the ethnolectal model, but matches those of the pool/repertoire approach, which provides speakers the pliability to employ a broader series of linguistic resources.
