Annotation

Brazilian electronic court records (1997–2014) in which humorists faced lawsuits due to deemed abusive expressions, centering on claimant identities and lawsuit success, reveal how judges' conservative and very personal stances generate an uncertainty setting about cases involving humor and speech liberty. More attention to Brazilian Higher Courts' antecedents and some common sense (of humor) on judicature's part would aid to surmount judicial prejudice against humorists.
