Kindergarten children (N=102)'s humor response may be affected by the research tool of a picture figuring a child behaving “perilously”; in making a comic drawing, children chiefly use the Incongruity theory whereas in their funny story production they employ the Empowerment theory; and divergent cognitive schemata are deployed to account for the comic part in their storytelling and drawing.
