This paper focuses on the performative and therapeutic nature of play and laughter in clowning for refugees (based on Clowns without Borders (CWB)), esp. yet not solely for children, in 3 settings (CWB in Lesotho, Circus2Iraq and Mimi the Clown working with the Tunisian Red Cross), whilst also observing cultural and ethical reflections linked to feat in possibly risky contexts.
