Annotation
Inquiry of young audience anti-Muslim racism (aMR) perception in Baron Cohen's (esp. The Dictator's) comedy, traces 4 discourses: (dis)confirming aMR perception, stating the lack of Islam as religion or Muslims as ethnic group marking; and one assertion that comedy deploys signs of the “other” for ironic satire. Rhetorical discourse inquiry is used to point out the tropes of meaning construction in each conversation.
