Production and reception of on-line humor criticizing the Macedonian Skopje 2014 renovation project may be considered as symbolic of societal strains underlying the antilogy between its results and its assessments. The humor failed in becoming a democratic way of political commitment, mainly staying a means of voicing personal discontent. Yet there is an extant antinomy in the face of citizens’ beliefs in this humor's capacity, which this inquiry attempts to account for.
