This study argues that there is a tight link between ludic language play and language play as rehearsal and language awareness, and thereby states that language play events could yield insights into students’ knowledge about language and their skills to reflect on it via engagement with language. Lastly, this inquiry sketches implications for studies on language play episodes and for their use in instructing how to integrate humor into the language classroom.
