Annotation

It is claimed that Internet trolling unavoidably depends upon deception in intercultural multi-party interactions, favoring (humorous) self and/or other amusement, at the tricked target's expense. Using e-mail communication data of the “DontEvenReply” troll, this study draws on the literature handling the focal phenomenon and unites findings from various other research domains (humor theory, deception philosophy, and interactional pragmatics) to unriddle trolling.
