Starting from Hawkins's 40 year-old vision of language awareness (LA) as connecting, in broader society, people of diverse backgrounds and languages, this study considers language awareness (LA) research in the last four years, viz. the most often handled topics, the singled out languages, and the study context. A dynamic systems world view appears in much of modern LA inquiry.
