Examining decisive language aptitude (LA) factors, working memory (WM) capacity is centered upon. A L1+L2 reading span and L1 operation span task measure WM capacity of advanced English learning Turkish university students. The computerised LA test revealed that working memory (WM) capacity rather matched total than subcomponent lA scores. WM capacity remains vital in a revived aptitude construct, yet the two cognitive skills are not transposable.
