Annotation

Study covering countries with solely two official languages (viz. Canada, Israel) shows that the ruling official language portends reading feat unless the minority language displays an internationally respected language by local stakeholders (cfr. English in the United Arab Emirates). Educational resources and programmes should be reactive to country-particular language ideologies' historical context and linked stereotypical observances that foster the ruling language within the school setting.
