Eight 14-year-olds reared in Germany, who had acquired English at school for 6 years and Polish for 1 year, with either German or Polish as main home languages, showed strong individual variability in a delayed vowel repetition task in all three languages. language status is indicated as one factor molding the phonological subsystems of these multilinguals. The results are explained within the Dynamic Systems Theory.
