Annotation

This inquiry of recordings of naturally occurring interpreted interactions in a medical context reveals that nearly all small talk is oriented to the interpreters which enables them to do a great diversity of identity work outside the provided translator role. There is but restricted proof that small talk may add to creating an interpersonal client-professional relationship across language boundaries.
