Annotation

This study examines the novel family language policy trend of Israeli Arab families in mixed Israeli cities, to let their children join in Hebrew-speaking educational settings, notably during preschool years, from a sociolinguistic and psychological view, regarding language as tightly linked to power, identity, emotions and close relationships. Findings disclose how the outer urban setting penetrates the family dynamics in varied ways, and sociopolitical dimensions strongly affect emotional ones.
