This study focuses on untranslatables' productive difficulty in qualitative research including plural languages, by compelling a judicial scrutiny of both the data and the hypothes shaping the research questions. Two cases are debated: inquiry with Mandarin-speaking partakers on the themes of democracy and democratic subjectivity, and inquiry with Q’eqchi’-speaking partakers on the themes of social engagement and political participation.
