Annotation

Using a social constructionist method and Philipsen's theoretical cultural communication framework, this paper explores how rural–urban migrant workers in China construct the meaning of home in their everyday migration communication. Migrant workers often raise a cultural code of home adhesion and actively establish a political code of translocation to build their lenghty city-countryside liminality. Implications for examining the use of culturally fixed and politically situated discursive practices to handle universal displacement defiances are debated.
