Pre- and post-questionnaires replied by UK Nottingham Trent University (NTU) and Spain’s University of Salamanca (USAL) students on their study abroad back a comparative analysis of its influence on their intercultural communicative skills, including the consciousness, attitude, abilities and knowledge dimensions. NTU students began their placements with superior outcomes in them all. Yet, while both groups finished their stay with an alike enhanced awareness, the knowledge and skills of the USAL group equalled the outcomes of NTU students and, whereas the attitude dimension scores towards the host country of NTU students did not significantly grow, those of USAL students lessened.
