Annotation

Given continual deportation anxiety, undocumented Latin American immigrants in the US have to communicatively “proceed” for documented in a diversity of situations, and they might probably employ informal network ties (social capital) to do so. Via eight distinct focus group interviews with undocumented immigrants, this inquiry examines how this population passes. They are shown to employ talk, the body, or documents to pass either individually or via network members. Effects for theory and practice are debated.
