Annotation

This paper presents a framework for inquiry, indicating the acute need for interdisciplinary approaches -as there is little medical and linguistic literature on the topic and an integrated perspective by both disciplines on the phenomenon is missing- to grasp prolonged periods of silence in child dual-language learners in order to surmount under- or over-referral for selective silence and the current deficit of trustworthy evidence-based advices for practitioners.
