Annotation
On 11 April 2015, in the preamble of Turkey’s parliamentary elections, a gunfight in the south-eastern Ağrı province ended in six Kurdish people being slayed and four Turkish military personnel injured. The Turkish media recontextualised events in ways that revealed their political bonds, hiding the truth about Kurds helping wounded Turkish soldiers, and doing nothing to help resolve the decades-old issue of how Turks and Kurds can peacefully live together.
