Annotation

This historiographic analysis centers on continuity and disjuncture of 20th century debates amid agents with linguistic, faith-based and ideological concern in the standardisation or harmonisation of Nguni and Sotho, two broadly employed language clusters in South Africa. Theoretical reflections on linguistic diversity get entoiled with political concern in the process of (re)articulating language policy.
