Annotation

Native English speakers notably raise the amount of consonantal duration in persuasive speech, whereas no consonant protraction was found in Latvian L1 speakers and their English L2 productions. These findings deliver proof for consonants' paralinguistic function and the existence of language-particular persuasion cues.
