Annotation

In a test among Dutch-dominant Dutch–English bilinguals, effects of cross-language structural priming and verb bias on syntactic choice were found, some of which were affected by the participants’ language dominance. Additional cumulative forms of structural priming were found to end up in cross-language priming effects between experimental blocks. These findings are debated in terms of models of representation of lexical and syntactic information in bilinguals, and it is indicated how the perceived effects may be linked to experience-based mechanisms of language use and contact-induced language change.
