This article explores the quality of translated restaurant menus in the southern Spanish Andalusia region, in order to elucidate the chief error types found in this key text type. An empirical inquiry of over one hundred restaurant menus is proposed through an error categorisation framework, together with unexpected insights from a brief questionnaire for professional menu translators. Lastly, some suggestions and recommendations are provided for better menu translations and a much required upgrade of quality tourist texts.
