Annotation

This paper tries to trace and grasp the historical evolution and transformation of the regimes of language Indigenous to the Village of Tewa (northeastern Arizona). This report offers a better assay of Tewa linguistic opposition to Spanish colonization than that of Edward Dozier, who ascribed language contact outcomes to the historical circumstances of Spanish colonial suppression rather than to the voicing of Indigenous language ideologies, including their regimes of temporalization and the crossing of temporal borders in subjective history.
