The aim of this inquiry is threefold: (a) to distinguish the moves in Iranian obituaries; (b) to examine the poetic schemes and types of the poems employed in obituaries; and (c) scrutinize the thematic content voiced in Persian poems used in obituaries. The 166 randomly selected obits were gathered from electronic and traditional advertising companies and explored both quantitatively and qualitatively.
