This discourse analysis integrates stance theories and membership categorization to explore one online discussion thread started by a woman who asks for diet and health advice on behalf of her boyfriend, an interactive move termed here ‘asking for another’. Two features of the asking-for-another post (inadvertently) evoke the identities of the original poster as nagging mother-figure and her boyfriend as a childish victim of nagging.
