Annotation
This paper proposes the results of an assay of the large-scale processed texts of Arabic newspapers in the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) Arabic Corpus Project. It adopts methods modified from the Biber Connor Upton Approach to retrieve the extended concordances of the lexical units almarᵓa (woman) and alnisāᵓ (women) from the corpus. The extracted text discloses the discursive patterns concerning a number of topics which are debated in Arabic newspapers, to wit, socio-culture (social practices) and eco-politics. The results of the inquiry display how and why topics linked to Arab women are discursively constructed.
