Annotation
This article handles the matter of writing for publication in English to clarify, on the one hand, how writing styles of scholars from two cultural regions – Polish and Anglo‐American – diverge at the level of article structure. On the other, it examines the degree to which internationalizing forces inside one discourse community (specialists in linguistics) can overrule differences. For this aim, a qualitative, cross‐linguistic and cross‐cultural inquiry was conducted to compare texts written in English by native speakers with such articles by Polish authors. The matter is progressively significant as actual scientific progress and globalization has stimulated the need to share research findings in all fields of science employing English as the major language of international publication.
