Annotation

All nationalist movements employ a diversity of aspects (language, history, race, etc.) of the territory claimed as a nation to construct their discourse on said nation, and, albeit these discourses are often proposed as something lasting and unaltered over time, they can alter relying on the historical context. This is pointed out by the Basque nationalist movement's two major discourses on the nation, and by what seems to be a bent towards a novel discourse topically being evolved within this movement. The novel discourse appears to have assumed the notion of democracy as a vital element in its theorization.
