Annotation

Text coherence is seen as a product of three factors: (i) thematic coherence created by reference acts, (ii) semantic coherence created by predication acts, and (iii) pragmatic coherence created by illocutionary acts (J. Searle 1969: 'Speech acts'). The surface structure of text coherence is (more or less) specific of a certain text type, e.g. the obituary analyzed.
