Annotation

L. argues that textual coherence is not a purely syntactic phenomenon but a matter of thematic, semantic and pragmatic features corresponding to the three major speech acts proposed by J.R. Searle (1969: 'Speech acts'): the reference act, the predication act and the illocutionary act. The three sorts of coherence are further investigated in a case grammar framework.
