Annotation

This inquiry explores how the first two parliamentary election campaigns in Hungary after the Austro-Hungarian Compromise (1867), used humour tools in popular press products of the time (e.g. caricatures and texts in humour magazines), to deride political rivals. It also examines how parties were limned to (possible) voters, and how they attempted to foster voting and persuade people of their standpoints.
