This paper clears the concepts of “successful humour” and “humorous convergence”. It centers on humorous sequences in French face-to-face interactions which are both thrifty and have a same target type: a collective “Other”. It is displayed that laughing about/at others is not incompatible with the required conversation's co-operative side.
