This paper explores actions worded as imperatives in Japanese sparring sessions, in which coaches order boxers to execute certain boxing movements. The partakers orientate on proposing pugilistic instants when employing imperatives, and imperative actions get instructive mainly within the ongoing sparring flow. Data are in Japanese, with English translation.
