On grammatical categories and speech situation. M. defines 'categories' as the conditions on the possibility of communication: they guarantee that the conversation partner can interpret an utterance (even in the way the speaker intends). M. also calls them illocutionary categories (consisting of illocutionary acts and characterizations of what is said, such as 'here', 'now', 'you').
