This paper explores unsolicited telephone calls in Italian, wherein bank employees telephone existing clients to arrange a meeting at the bank and sell bank services. Employing conversation analysis, this paper explains how actions' ordering and grammatical patterns' choice are consequential for clients’ answers to institutional invitations.
