Movement metaphors hold substantive and organizational functions in psychotherapy talk. Notable associations exist between their speakers, targets, and directions. The inferential logic of substantive and organizational instances do not conflict. Therapists can center more on less ‘ideal’ (e.g. non-forward) metaphorical movement.
